How a match works

Claim your Asa

Your Asa is your fight name. It goes on your record, your Asa-File and every scorecard you win.

Prep

The higher seed picks one of ten categories at the bell. You won’t know which, so prepare for all of them.

Fight

Three 3-minute rounds in a chat ring. Three judges call your moves, the crowd votes after every round, and later rounds count for more. Bring your people: in a close round, the bigger crowd earns a point.

The moves

Every message can score. Judges weigh substance two-thirds and style one-third. Rounds 2 and 3 add +1 and +2 to every move, so a comeback is always live.

Asa+1First to respond when the bell rings. Every round opens with one.
AsaJab+1A short, significant reply that gets a point across.
AsaBack+1A sharp reply without much bite. Still a good answer.
AsaSlam+3A brilliant reply with real substance.
AsaAttack+6Three AsaJabs in a row. Each extra jab in the run adds +2.
AsaEnstein+4 to opponentYou stalled, then came back with nothing. "Whatever" won’t save you.
AsaRile+2 to opponentYou hurried a reply and it showed. They got to you.
Asa Clock−1No reply within 10 seconds. Each one is a strike.
AsaDown+10 and the winThree Asa Clock strikes. The TKO.
AsaOut+30 × rounds left and the win20 seconds of silence. The knockout: worth 90 in round 1, 60 in round 2, 30 in round 3.

House rules

Talking trash is one thing. Verbal abuse is another. There is zero tolerance for abuse, discrimination or sexual content. Profanity only flies in context, at the judges’ call. Three fouls and you’re disqualified.

If you don’t like smack talkers, come prove their ignorance. Show them who’s better.
